Welcome to the Romantic Novelists' Association

Welcome to the website of the Romantic Novelists’ Association (RNA). Romance is the most popular genre of fiction. According to our research, more than ninety per cent of all readers like to see a bit of romance in the books they read—men as well as women.

The RNA was formed in 1960 to promote romantic fiction and to encourage good writing and now represents more than 700 writers, agents, editors and other publishing professionals.

Nicola Cornick, RNA Chair writes:

The RNA was founded to celebrate excellence in romantic fiction and for almost 60 years it has supported and promoted this diverse, popular and hugely successful genre. Any organisation that can stand the test of time must be adaptable to change as well as strong enough to survive and the RNA owes its longevity in a large part to the professionalism and dynamism of its members as well as an environment that fosters creative and professional growth. The free exchange of ideas, information and knowledge are our hallmark as well as the fun and friendships forged. I’m enormously proud to be the Chair of the RNA at a time when we are evolving to embrace shifts in the industry, in our membership, our goals and our future.  If you are a romantic novelist, at any stage of your writing career, do join us!
