Welcome to the Romantic Novelists' Association

Welcome to the website of the Romantic Novelists’ Association (RNA). Romance is the most popular genre of fiction. According to our research, more than ninety per cent of all readers like to see a bit of romance in the books they read—men as well as women.

The RNA was formed in 1960 to promote romantic fiction and to encourage good writing and now represents more than 700 writers, agents, editors and other publishing professionals.

Please look around the site. You can find out more about us and what we do, the awards we make and our latest news. Please check out the activities we have planned, and if you wish, join us. Our features pages will contain regularly updated craft tips and interviews with some of the most popular authors in our genre. You could also head over to the RNA Blog, for an informal, personal chat with our writers.

We hope you enjoy your visit—and do come back again!

Pia Fenton, RNA Chair writes:

Joining the RNA was one of the best things I ever did because support and encouragement from fellow authors is invaluable!
Our talks, workshops and yearly conference are informative and fun, with great networking opportunities.  Our New Writers’ Scheme is unique in guiding would-be authors through all the potential pitfalls.  For anyone who is serious about wanting to write romantic fiction, the RNA is a must and for those already published, a chance to connect with like-minded people.
Why not come to a local chapter meeting?  It’s great to chat to others who share your passion for writing.
RNA members are some of the nicest people in the world of publishing and our parties are legendary.
We look forward to welcoming you!
